Queen Camilla Makes Her First Appearance Following King Charles' Cancer Diagnosis

While King Charles postponed his engagements leading up to and following his prostate surgery, Queen Camilla kept carrying out her schedule of events, including hosting a reception at Windsor Castle. Now, in light of Charles' cancer diagnosis, it seems as though Queen Camilla will continue to undertake her normal schedule.

It is understood that Camilla will play an important role in supporting Charles throughout his period of treatment while continuing her schedule of normal engagements. According to a Buckingham Palace spokesperson, "Her Majesty will continue with a full programme of public duties."

On February 8, that was evident as the Queen was pictured for the first time since the news of Charles' cancer was announced while attending a "musical evening" at Salisbury Cathedral. The night celebrated the work of local charities—The Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust, The Wiltshire Air Ambulance, and Community First-Youth Action Wiltshire—along with the regimental charities of The Grenadier Guards and The Rifles.

As she arrived, Queen Camilla said of her husband, "He is doing extremely well under the circumstances. We are very touched by all of the letters and messages."

Just a day prior—on February 7—, Prince William made his first official appearance following his father's cancer diagnosis and his wife Kate Middleton's hospitalization. While attending a gala dinner to support the London Air Ambulance, a charity he is a patron of, the Prince of Wales said in a speech, "I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you, also, for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days. It means a great deal to us all."
