Puma’s New Sneaker Collab Looks Like It’s Floating in Mid-Air
Sneakers that float in mid-air? Not quite, but Puma’s first collaboration with Parisian vegan footwear brand Rombaut features a perpetually lifted heel which lives up to the model’s Levitation name.
Originally showcased in Rombaut’s spring 2025 show at Paris Fashion Week, the Rombaut x Puma Levitation features two colorways in white and black. Staying true to Rombaut’s ethos, the leather-looking upper of the shoes is actually composed of 60 percent polyurethane resin and a 40 percent blend of recycled plastic and plastic. It features Puma’s formstrip logo swooping from the sole across the upper and attaching to the heel of the shoe, which is the defining detail of the collaboration.

Rombaut’s updated version of the Puma Levitation, a model which was originally introduced in 2007, takes its unique design to new extremes by adding an even larger gap between the wearer’s heel and the outsole.
Rombaut says its take on the Levitation is inspired by the philosophy of Stoicism and the brand’s goal to “become better versions of ourselves through education, mindfulness, and turning our intentions into actions.” It says the redesigned sole is intended to serve as a visual representation of the concept, while the minimal upper is inspired a “future that is pragmatic, peaceful, and serene—a vision of harmony with nature and each other.”
Along with the Levitation sneaker, Rombaut has also created a black colorway of the Levitation Sock, which replaces sneaker’s the low-top, leather-like upper with a collapsible sock construction.
In 2024, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) nonprofit awarded the Rombaut x Puma Levitation collection the PETA Vegan Award for Best Vegan Fashion Collaboration.
The Rombaut x Puma Levitation collection is set for a global release from select Puma stockists on March 1 and is available now from rombaut.com. The Levitation Sneaker is priced at $370, while the Levitation Sock comes in at $381.
