A provocative new drama starring Aidan Turner of 'Poldark' is this summer's must-watch
This summer, tennis is big business: not only is there Wimbledon to keep you entertained (as well as the promise of Zendaya’s new film, Challengers) but there’s now also a brand new TV drama to look forward to. Starring Poldark’s Aidan Turner and breakthrough star Ella Lily Hyland, Fifteen-Love is set in the world of elite tennis and promises to be one of the smash-hits of the season.
What is Fifteen-Love about?
From World Productions, the company behind Vigil and Line of Duty (so you know you can expect some top-tier, nail-biting action), Fifteen-Love is a Prime Video Original that charts the story of Justine Pearce, a young sports prodigy in the world of Grand Slam tennis. Glenn Lapthorn, Justine’s maverick coach, helps her reach the semi-finals of the French Open, before she suffers a devastating injury, which ends her career for good.
Five years on, the now 22-year-old Justine is a physiotherapist at her old tennis academy, Longwood, and it seems as if she has made a strong recovery – both mentally and physically – from her humiliating downfall. But when she makes a shocking allegation against her former coach, everyone is forced to reconsider what they thought they knew.
Examining the intense physical and mental pressures of professional tennis, the series is an explosive exploration of trust, power, and competition.
Who stars in Fifteen-Love?
The main character, Justine Pearce, is played by relative newcomer Ella Lily Hyland. She completed months of training for the tennis scenes, and was helped on set by coach and former-prom Naomi Cavaday.
Hyland is starring opposite Aidan Turner, who rose to fame as the protagonist in the wildly popular series, Poldark. He’s also set to feature in Rivals, the televised version of the famous Jilly Cooper novel, coming soon to Disney+.
The rest of the Fifteen-Love cast is no less impressive: Anna Chancellor, Elizabeth Berrington (who you’ll know from Waterloo Road) and Tom Varey, who has previously appeared in Game of Thrones, all make appearances.
How can I watch Fifteen-Love?
The series, which will have six episodes, will be available on Prime Video from 21 July 2023 in the UK and Ireland.
