A Prominent Tech Exec’s Idyllic NorCal Estate Hits the Market for $5.2 Million

Back in 2019, Bill Falk and his wife Dina fell in love with a particularly dreamy estate tucked away in Northern California’s famed Napa Valley wine region and knew they had to make the “beautiful, tranquil, and private” spread their own.

The couple—he the go-to-market president of cyber security company Actifile and she a landscape designer—wound up purchasing the 70-plus-year-old property for $2.3 million and subsequently restored and renovated the place, complete with a new patio and a 40-foot swimming pool. Now, a little over five years later, the Falks are putting their fully transformed compound up for sale, asking nearly $5.2 million.

“We can’t think of a better location in the valley,” Bill and Dina said in a statement. “On many a warm afternoon, a lovey cool breeze flows through the vineyards and onto our patio as if to say, ‘The day is done…sit and enjoy for a spell.'”

Sliding glass doors in the modern main home spill out to an al fresco entertaining area.

Nestled beyond gates, amid two separate parcels of land resting alongside a scenic vineyard-lined lane off Highway 29, the 1-acre compound features a sleek modern main home designed by architect Matthew Stannard of Seattle-based Stillwater Dwellings, a farmhouse-style guesthouse, and a restored and remodeled barn boasting an apartment up top and an entertainment area below—for a total of five bedrooms and three baths spread across nearly 3,500 square feet. There’s also smart-home technology to remotely manage the estate’s security, climate, lighting, and irrigation systems.

Especially standing out is the primary dwelling at the rear of the property, which includes a pair of bedrooms that share a bath, plus a fireside living room and a kitchen outfitted with custom birch cabinetry, Caesarstone countertops, an eat-in island, and stainless appliances. On the other side of a fence out front is the two-bedroom, one-bath guesthouse, which has a living room with a fireplace and large windows overlooking a private cabernet vineyard, a kitchen with an accompanying dining area, and an office space with direct access to a one-car garage with laundry facilities.

The rustic modern barn has hosted many festive events.

As for the entertainment barn, the rustically stylish space features a performance stage and a climate-controlled wine cellar downstairs and a fully equipped one-bedroom, one-bath apartment up top; and rounding it all out are the Josh Chandler-designed grounds, which are laced with gardens, fruit trees, and water features and host a pool and a steel-clad hot tub, a fire-pit conversation area, a built-in Lynx grill, a bocce court, and plenty of spots ideal for al fresco lounging and entertaining while gazing at Napa’s famed hot-air balloons.

Though the Falks say the property has “been beyond our expectations and encompassed too many memories to list,” the couple have decided to sell because it’s time to “move on, do some traveling, and find out what’s next!”

The listing is held by Shana Rohde-Lynch of Compass and Erin Lail of Coldwell Banker.
