Project Superstar alum Shi Xin Hui welcomes first child with Swedish husband

Malaysian singer, Shi Xin Huey of Project Superstar fame, is now a mother. The 39-year-old recently took to her Instagram and posted a photo of her child, captioning the post “TRULY BLESSED”.

Also known as Sing Chew Xin Huey, the singer hashtagged her post with #fourthtrimester, #newbornbaby, #parenthood and #happilyeverafter. Local singer Jocie Guo and Joi Chua, along with fellow Project Superstar alum Silver Ang, left congratulatory messages for the new mum in her post.

While Shi had not disclosed the gender of her baby, comments from friends such as “Hi little girl...Hope to see you soon” and “she’s such a cute little girl” have shed some clues on the baby’s gender.

Married to her Swedish boyfriend, Anders Stenquist, in December 2016, Shi had only disclosed her pregnancy on her 5th May post where she posted a photo of her looking heavily pregnant. With a playful caption in Chinese writing, “I am going for a walk after eating really full”, the post had singer Jocie Guo and ex-actress May Phua congratulating Chew for her pregnancy.

Shi was one of the top four finalists in the inaugural Project Superstar in 2005, placing as the female runner-up behind Kelly Poon. The competition had crowned blind singer Kelvin Tan as the overall winner. Shi went on to debut an album, From Taipei To Beijing, in 2006 and had also taken part in the stage production of If There’re Seasons in 2009.
