Priscilla Chan to make a comeback
18 Apr – After a decade of hiatus, singer Priscilla Chan will be making her return to the Hong Kong music industry.
According to Jayne Stars website, Universal Music Group announced that they have revived Priscilla's old record label PolyGram, and that the Cantopop singer has signed a three-year contract to be the label's first artiste.
Speaking to the media about her comeback, the 47-year-old revealed that the revival of PolyGram was the major reason for her return.
Priscilla expressed, "Re-opening PolyGram is my biggest reason for signing this contract. I was swayed when I heard the news. I have always been with PolyGram, and have never left. Those were very happy times. I feel safe returning to my old record label."
The singer continued, "It is also the right time to release a new album. This year would be my 30th year since my debut, and 10 years since my last record."
Priscilla also added that she is planning an anniversary concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum, but it may not happen this year, as she needed more time to wow her fans.
Priscilla Chan debuted in 1983, and rose to popularity after the release of her classic single "Thousands of Songs" in 1989. She then took a career halt to pursue her college degree in the United States and returned in 2003. However, with the lacklustre sales of her last album, "Loving Knots", Priscilla decided to continue her education and retreated from the Hong Kong music scene but continued to perform at private functions and concerts overseas.
