The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced their first engagement of 2019, where the royal couple will be visiting Birkenhead in Merseyside on Monday 14 January.

Harry and Meghan will make several stops during their trip to the North West town – firstly to Hamilton Square to view a new sculpture erected in November to mark the 100th anniversary of poet and soldier Wilfred Owen’s death.

They’ll also meet with local veterans and members of the Birkenhead Institute Old Boys, of which Wilfred Owen belonged to.

The Duke and Duchess will then visit Tomorrow’s Women Wirral, an organisation that supports women in vulnerable circumstance.

Their last stop on their visit will be to the Hive Wirral Youth Zone, a purpose-built facility for the city’s young people aged 8 – 19, created by the charity OnSide Youth Zones.

The last time we saw Harry and Meghan in public was on Christmas Day, when they walked to the annual church service in Sandringham alongside the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Prince of Wales.

Meghan, who is expecting the couple’s first baby in spring, is said to be keen to work up until her due date.

According to reports, it’s expected that the mum-to-be will announce some of her first patronages over the coming months.
