Early Prime Day deal: The Amazon Fire TV Stick just dropped to $17, an all-time low
Amazon is getting a jumpstart on Prime Day 2022, slashing prices to historic lows on a variety of products. One of them will be especially good news to anyone seeking to upgrade an older TV.
It's the Amazon Fire TV Stick for just $17, a full $23 off the regular price.
Why buy this? Perhaps you have an older TV that lacks streaming capabilities. Or perhaps you don't like the slow, clunky, limited operating system that's built in. Maybe you just want to add voice controls to the mix.
The Fire TV Stick is the answer. Well, it's an answer, and right now an extremely inexpensive one. After plugging it into one of your TV's HDMI ports, you get easy access to Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video (natch) and loads of other streaming services (some of which require subscriptions, also natch).
Unlike Roku streamers, the Fire TV also lets you play games — most notably from Amazon's Luna service. (Side deal: The Luna game controller for that service is currently on sale for an all-time-low of $40.)
The Stick's remote includes not only shortcut buttons for a quartet of streaming services, but also TV-control buttons (power, volume, mute) you can program to match your TV. Just as great, there's an Alexa button: Press it to do TV things ("Play Stranger Things on Netflix") or anything else Alexa can do ("Tell me the weather").
If that's not enough convincing, try this: The Fire TV Stick has a 4.7-star average rating from over 230,000 (!) buyers. You'd have to work really hard not to like this thing.
Especially when it's just $17.
