Pony Effect Customising Lip Palette Lets You Create Your Own Lipstick Shades!

I recently chanced upon this Buzzfeed video that got me all excited – apparently, Bite Beauty has a Lip Lab in New York City that allows you (yes, the common customer!) to mix pigments create *any* lipstick colour your heart desires.

As a lipstick junkie myself with a ton of lipsticks on my vanity table, you can imagine how thrilled I was knowing that I could actually (and finally) perfect that shade of nude, and red, and purple that’s most suited for my skin tone. A girl can never have too many lipsticks, I always say.

But there was one problem. As much as I would love to jet down to NYC in a heartbeat, yearning was the most a broke girl could do. I mean… we *are* talking about flying across the globe, and that ought to cost some moolah.

So it was a god sent when the Pony Effect Lip Colour Customising Palette came along. This palette, created by Korean sweetheart makeup artist Pony, enables lipsticks junkies like myself to – you guessed it – mix and create my custom lip shade!

Now the palette (that comes in a really pretty gold packaging, hello?!) flips open to reveal 10 colour pigments on both sides. On the left are the bolder “tone and hue” shades of yellow, blue, purple and white and the right has a collection of “bases” in reds, pinks and mauves.

In the middle of the palette would be the plastic mixing station. You will have to scoop out the necessary about of colour pigment needed for your lip colour of choice, and get to mixing away with the provided dual ended silicone mixing and lip brush.

There is even a little opening for your thumb so that you can actually hold the palette like a true artist while you mix.

How fun is that?!!!?

Pony recommends 25 different shades that you could play with, and the amount of pigment needed for these 25 colours are all stated in the instruction chart that comes along with the palette.

For example, a cool-toned purple requires a ratio of 5:2:3 red to blue to white, whereas a fun pop of orange would need 6:4 yellow and pink. These are just guidelines, there are honestly no rules to makeup~

(Just do remember to pen down the different amounts of each pigment used for your favourite colours, so that you can easily recreate them the next time.)

The finish is a creamy, satin-to-glossy finish so you’d definitely end up with a dewy sheen on your lips – just like how the Koreans like it.

So now you can go ahead and have fun with your imagination – the possibilities are literally endless.
