Pierre Fabre Laboratoires Takes Stake in Women’s Well-being Brand MiYé

PARIS — Pierre Fabre Laboratoires has taken a minority stake in MiYé, the French skin care and dietary supplements brand focusing on women’s hormonal balance and well-being — a burgeoning category in the beauty industry today.

Financial terms of MiYé’s first funding round, with Pierre Fabre the sole investor, were not disclosed. But the companies jointly said in a statement that the investment will help the brand accelerate its development, thanks to Pierre Fabre labs’ know-how in medicine and the pharmacy market.

In the near term, MiYé is readying to develop an awareness-raising and personalized support program involving online consultations with naturopaths and micronutritionists.

MiYé was cofounded in 2020 by Caroline de Blignières and Anna Oualid, with the backing of a scientific community specialized in the endocrine system. The brand, whose name means “good friend” in Provençal, was created to help women live better with hormone fluctuations throughout their lives.

MiYé has a range of 13 products, including five dietary supplements and eight dermocosmetics, which focus on performance, naturalness, safety and ease of use.

“Pierre Fabre Laboratories’ acquisition of a stake in MiYé two years after our launch is a fantastic endorsement,” de Blignières said in a statement. “It’s an invaluable opportunity to strengthen our R&D resources, so that we can promote the democratization of women’s hormonal health and work together to redefine the rules of a new ecology for the female body — one that is holistic, transgenerational and, above all, safer.”

“When we launched MiYé, we set ourselves the ambitious goal of making a medical topic easier to understand for the general public by using cosmetics concepts in tune with women’s daily routines, via premium, multichannel distribution,” Oualid said. “Who better to support us today than Pierre Fabre, with its longstanding commitment to women’s health?”

Pierre Fabre Laboratories, which was created in 1962, has an investment subsidiary called Pierre Fabre Invest. Through that, the group acquires stakes in what it considers fast-growing start-ups with a positioning that complements its own dermocosmetics brands.

Pierre Fabre Invest became the majority stakeholder in Ladrôme Laboratoire, which specializes in organic skin care and cosmetics, in 2021. It is also the only shareholder of Même Cosmetics, which makes wellness treatments for people with cancer.

“Hormonal balance is a major stake that dermocosmetics shall address. With MiYé, Caroline de Blignières and Anna Oualid have found a way to support women from puberty to menopause,” said Frédéric Ennabli, chief executive officer of Pierre Fabre Dermo-Cosmétique. “They have created a brand with a strong territory, with specialized and differentiating products that are now esteemed by consumers, such as the Happy Cycles Serum.

“By partnering with MiYé, we are committed to providing our medical and dermatological expertise to develop the best possible responses to take care of all skins affected by hormonal variations,” he continued. “We are thus continuing Pierre Fabre Laboratories’ longstanding commitment to supporting women’s health by enabling pharmacists to accompany them in the best possible way, whether through our democosmetics or our medicines, which have pioneered the treatment of iron deficiency anemia, a very common condition during pregnancy, and now thanks to this strategic partnership.”
