Pia Wurtzbach pokes fun at Academy Awards' blunder

The former Miss Universe understands most what it's like to miss a victory moment

28 Feb - Nobody understands being snubbed from your victory moment more than former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, which is why she found the recent Academy Awards blunder funny, according to PEP News.

Previously, "Bonnie and Clyde" stars Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway made the 'Steve Harvey'-mistake of announcing "La La Land" as the winner of the 89th Academy Awards' Best Picture category, instead of the real winner, indie movie, "Moonlight".

"La La Land" producer Jordan Horowitz then corrected the mistake and gave the trophy to the real winner.

The situation was similar to the one happening to Wurtzbach back in the Miss Universe pageant in 2015, when host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner.

Finding the humour in the latest blunder, Wurtzbach tagged Oscars on her Twitter post, in which shared a clip from her commercial. In it, she can be heard saying, "If it can happen to me, it can happen to anybody."

On the other hand, the Miss Universe organisation also found the whole thing funny, hashtagging "Oscars" and "MissUniverse" in its Twitter post that read, "Have your people call our people - we know what to do."
