Pia Wurtzbach on Miss Universe 2015 pageant: I would change my answer
26 Sep – If there is one thing Pia Wurtzbach would change about her Miss Universe 2015 stint, it would be her answer to one of the questions during the Q&A segment.
The beauty queen and Miss Universe 2015 shared her thoughts in her latest vlog on YouTube, titled, "Pia's Birthday Shoot 2022", saying that she would change her answer to the question about the military bases in the Philippines.
It is noted, that she previously responded to the question with, "I think that the United States and the Philippines [have] always had a good relationship with each other. We were colonized by the Americans and we have their culture in our traditions even up to this day. And I think we're very welcoming with the Americans and I don't see any problem with that at all."
Pia stated that the answer would not age well today.
"What I said there about us being colonised, nowadays there's a lot more discussion about the effects of colonialism. In a few years, I think that answer will come back to me on Twitter," she said with a laugh.
The beauty queen acknowledged the fact that she could have given a better answer.
"At that time, I thought that was the right answer because I was in front of American audience and during that time, people weren't as woke. So, at that time, that kind of answer was okay to say. We learn, we grow, we learn," she added.
In the same vlog, she also said she would tweak her response a bit in the last question to her now famous "confidently beautiful with a heart" answer.
"I wouldn't say, "which is the Philippines", because it's obvious I'm from the Philippines, so I don't know why I even mentioned it," she said. "That's the only thing I'll edit and maybe tone down the nervousness, because you could see in my face that I was so scared."
