Pepe Herrera to star in "My Sassy Girl"

26 Jan – After Toni Gonzaga's announcement that she will be playing the titular character in the Filipino adaptation of the Korean hit movie, "My Sassy Girl", it was revealed that the leading man will be played by none other than actor Pepe Herrera.

As reported on Push, the news was confirmed by production company TinCan Films on social media with a photo of Herrera from the upcoming movie, writing, "Grateful for your warm response for our Sassy Girl. Today, let us celebrate the guy who will tell her story. We are proud to share with you Pepe Herrera as our leading man for My Sassy Girl."

The stage actor is most known for roles in movies like "The Killer Bride" and "Sakaling Hindi Makarating".

The 2001 original film stars Cha Tae-hyun as a college student who finds himself drawn to a quirky complicated girl (Jun Ji-hyun). The movie was based on a true story told in a series of blog posts by Kim Ho-sik, who later adapted them into a fictional novel.

In her previous interview, Gonzaga revealed that starring in the movie adaptation is her biggest career achievement to-date, as she had fallen in love with the original film when she first watched it in 2006.
