Earlier this week, it was announced that Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton had officially inked his deal to drive for Ferrari, leaving his long-time seat at Mercedes-Benz. But that's not the only historical change in store. Hamilton, winner of seven championship titles, is not only being given a coveted seat with the iconic brand but a home as well. Hamilton will be granted the privilege of living in Enzo Ferrari's historic Fiorano home while under contract.
This honor has only been given to one other driver in history, Michael Schumacher. Fittingly, Hamilton and Schumacher are also tied for the most driver championships in F1 history, a tie Hamilton is looking to finally break this year. Read on as we reveal everything we know about the Italian property, including all of the interesting design details.
The exterior of the home is quintessentially Italian. With a stucco and brick exterior and tiled roof shingles, the home's timeless appearance mirrors Ferrari's commitment to design. The brand's signature red hue adorns both the door and the window shutters while the yellow flag hangs proudly. Inside, however, things are a bit removed from Hamilton's typically glamorous lifestyle.
We don't have many images of the home's interior, but what we do have showcases a cottage-like aesthetic in a classic neutral color palette with pops of red scattered throughout. Of course, the home has no shortage of Ferrari memorabilia and there's no telling if Hamilton will be able to infuse his own interior design style on the space. The space features homey, original beams along the ceilings and multiple fireplaces. An open floor plan features a modest living room complete with leather sofas and a large desk. In the dining room, an antique table and chairs can seat six, and Ferrari decor adorns the walls.
Most importantly, the home is mere minutes away from both Ferrari's HQ and the test track, which made the town of Fiorano famous in the racing industry. Fans have also uncovered a Taylor Swift-esque easter egg in the image of Hamilton with his new home. There are seven open windows, and one closed door...does this uncanny coincidence symbolize the eighth championship title Hamilton is seeking this year? Only time will tell for the hopeful fanbase.
