Peaky Blinders fans want a horse to win a BAFTA
Note: contains spoilers for Peaky Blinders series 5, episode 1.
Peaky Blinders returned with a bang tonight (August 25), with the series 5 premiere being heralded as the most cinematic episode in the show's history.
The series picks up two years after the Shelby clan's battles with Luca Changretta's (Adrien Brody) mafia goons – and everyone is enjoying the highlife.
Well, everyone except Tommy (Cillian Murphy), who's having a torrid time balancing parenting responsibilities with his new job in Westminster.
The rest of the Shelbys are busy indulging in gambling, gold, guns, girls and, of course, gear. But their luxurious lifestyles were soon brought to a halt as the Wall Street Crash has a detrimental impact on their global business.
And matters only get worse for Tommy and the rest of clan as their past comes back to haunt them, resulting in an early gunfight and a few flesh wounds.
However, for all the slow motion action and violence, there was one moment in particular that really had fans talking.
The scene involved Tommy rather distressingly shooting dead a horse. And while some viewers struggled to watch, others couldn't help but praise the stallion's BAFTA-worthy performance as it dramatically collapsed to the floor in slow motion.

I must admit the horse playing dead was poetry in motion to look at. Acting at its very best. What an amazingly well trained animal. #PeakyBlinders
