Patrick Tse gets first HKFA nomination in 70 years
18 Feb – Nominated Best Actor at the Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA) for the first time in his life, Patrick Tse couldn't help but feel elated by the turn of events.
As reported on Mingpao, the 85-year-old actor, who is nominated for his performance as a former assassin in "Time", stated that the HKFA did not even exist yet when he first became an actor 70 years ago.
"When it was launched, I was already reducing the number of movies that I made. I thought I would never be nominated after receiving the Lifetime Achievement award. I never expected I would be nominated this year," he enthused.
He also thanked his co-star Petrina Fung for their time together, as well as the audiences for supporting the movie.
It is noted that the veteran star has already won a Best Actor accolade at the Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards in January this year.
Patrick will be competing with Gordon Lam, who is nominated for two movies, "Hand Rolled Cigarette" and "Limbo", Francis Ng for "Drifting" as well as Leung Chung Hang for "Zero to Hero".
The upcoming HKFA is scheduled to air on 17 April.
