Patrick Stewart Dons Drag For US Comedy Series

We’ve known him as Captain Jean-Luc Picard, and Professor Charles Xavier – but now we’re seeing a whole new side to Sir Patrick Stewart.

Yes, that’s him taking on a new look in the trailer for the second season of US comedy ‘Blunt Talk.’ Why? Who knows. But there must be a good reason.

‘Blunt Talk’ stars the 76-year old British actor as Walter Blunt, a newsreader who heads stateside to host a cable talk show. Naturally, things don’t quite go according to plan.

The show is executive produced by Seth McFarlane, whose animated series ‘American Dad!’ features Stewart in a voice role. Stewart was also the storybook narrator of McFarlane’s ‘Ted’ movies, as well as making a number of guest appearances on ‘Family Guy.’

While other comedy roles are comparatively scarce on Stewart’s largely dramatic CV, he also appeared in ‘Robin Hood: Men In Tights,’ an episode of ‘Frasier,’ and as a bawdy caricature of himself on Ricky Gervais’s ‘Extras.’

After premiering online in August 2015, ‘Blunt Talk’ will start its second season on US network Starz this October.

Meanwhile, film fans can look forward to seeing Stewart reprise Professor X (possibly for the last time) in the as-yet untitled third ‘Wolverine,’ in UK cinemas 2 March 2017.
