Paolo Paraiso denies new movie is pro-Duterte drug war

18 Jul – Actor Paolo Paraiso has denied the notion that his new movie "Kontradiksyon" is pro-Duterte Administration.

As reported on Push, the actor who is playing the antagonist in the Njel de Mesa movie, shared that that was the first question he had when he was offered a role in the movie about the local drug war.

"I asked them if this is a pro-Duterte film? They said no. We're talking about the issue, not the presidency," said Paraiso.

He continued, "In my opinion, when you make a film there's a message to it and there's an issue at hand and then we address the issue. We did not say pro-drug war we or anti-drug war. We just show what the story is about that issue."

Paraiso also added that no matter if one is a Duterte supporter or not, it is important to acknowledge what is happening in the country right now.

"For me, when I read it, it's the kind of movie that tackles the issue, and I love the character. That's number one," he added.

The upcoming film co-stars Jake Cuenca, Kris Bernal, John Estrada, and Katrina Halili.
