Padma Lakshmi Marries Sheer Details With Lingerie Inspiration at Her Bare Necessities Collaboration Launch Party

Padma Lakshmi attended the launch event for her collaboration with Bare Necessities in New York City on Wednesday. The Emmy-nominated producer and bestselling author celebrated the occasion by fashioning a look that epitomized the best qualities of her collection with the lingerie and swimwear retailer.

For the event, Lakshmi perfectly merged monochrome and sheer dressing. The “Taste the Nation” host wore a black one-piece with thin straps and a bustier bustline beneath a sheer dress with flowing short sleeves and gathered fabric knotted at the hip. Lakshmi completed the look with strappy black heels and opted for minimal jewelry.
During the event, Lakshmi mingled with guests and showed off selections from her Bare Necessities collaboration, which will be available on the official Bare Necessities site starting on June 6. The 19-piece collection features new designs of bras, swimsuits, thongs, bustiers, bodysuits, loungewear and cover-ups, keeping full-busted women in mind.
“Obviously a person at my age has bought a lot of lingerie, but I also modeled a lot of lingerie when I was modeling in Europe,” Lakshmi said in a Zoom interview with WWD on Tuesday. “Lingerie is such an intimate thing. And there’s a lot of room for improvement.”
When Bare Necessities came to Lakshmi with the idea of a collaboration, Lakshi said “it would be a fun, creative challenge. I wanted a nice mix of everyday staples, as well as a couple of pieces that felt a little dressier and sexy,” she said.
Lakshmi collaborated on the designs with a group of specialists at Bare Necessities, emphasizing how important it is to give special attention to women with larger bust sizes. “I just wanted a line that would be just as sexy as the stuff I used to wear when I was younger. With a little more consideration to my body structure and my needs,” she said.
“I hope the collection encourages women of all ages and sizes to feel sexy and feminine.”
