Singer P!nk, has shared some of the knottier realities of being in a relationship spanning decades, marking the 22nd anniversary of her relationship with husband Cary Hart.

In a post shared to her Instagram page, the 44-year-old — real name Alecia Beth Moore Hart — offered up some honest insights into her marriage to the former motocross racer, and what has kept them together, all this time.

Captioning a photo slideshow of their years together, which included candid holiday snaps, intimate laughing selfies and formal black-tie shots, the singer revealed: "Love is a lifetime of coming back to the table. We almost didn’t make it to this one, well a couple of them, if I’m being honest. When I met you, 22 years ago, I just wanted someone that wouldn’t lie to me. I didn’t have a clue about commitment, building a life together, intimacy, trust. It’s fucking hard.

"But man if I’m not humbled by the surprise of loyalty, history, forgiveness, and resilience. How love rearranges itself and reappears after an empty night or five. I’m proud we made it to the other side of this year. I wear our scars proudly. You are my stubborn, beautiful, immovable rock.

"The family we’ve built and the stories we have weaved together and the memories we continue to make are worth more than a thousand million awards that anyone could give me. I love you and I love us."

The Just Give Me a Reason singer met Hart at the 2001 extreme sport event, X Games in Philadelphia, USA. Following a brief separation in 2003, Pink proposed in 2005 during one of his races and they married in 2006. Between 2008 and 2010 they separated, before reconciling. Together they share a daughter, Willow, 12, and son, Jameson, seven.

The star is no stranger to sharing the rawer side of life with her fans. Earlier this year, P!nk told Hello! that the couple are in marriage counselling and that she credits therapist Vanessa Inn for saving their relationship.

Addressing her fans on the UK opening night of her Summer Carnival World Tour, P!nk said, "This is what they teach in marriage counselling: remorse, regret, resolution."
