The Oscars have announced the host for the 2023 awards
The 2023 Oscars, the 95th overall, has announced its host.
Jimmy Kimmel, who hosted the ceremony in 2017 and 2018, is back to keep things running smoothly and deliver a few funny anecdotes along the way.
The late night host said in a statement: "Being invited to host the Oscars for a third time is either a great honour or a trap. Either way, I am grateful to the Academy for asking me so quickly after everyone good said no."
The Academy's CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang added: "Jimmy is the perfect host to help us recognise the incredible artists and films of our 95th Oscars. His love of movies, live TV expertise, and ability to connect with our global audiences will create an unforgettable experience for our millions of viewers worldwide.
"With Kimmel, (showrunners) Weiss and Kirshner’s fresh perspective and masterful guidance, the Oscars will celebrate its rich 95-year history, the collaborative nature of moviemaking, and our diverse, dynamic and deeply creative community of filmmakers."
Kimmel recently extended the contract for his late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which he executive produces as well as hosts, by three years. The show began in 2003, with this extension making him one of the longest running talk show hosts in American TV history.
The Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 12 in Hollywood. It will air on ABC in the US, and usually airs on Sky and NOW in the UK.
