The best beauty looks from the Oscars 2024
The Academy Awards – the biggest night in Hollywood's calendar – was as spectacular as anticipated for 2024. Being the Oscars, the red carpet brought the typical glitz and glamour to award season.
Not only were the gowns literal works of art (see Bazaar's 10 best dressed here), but the hair and make-up designs were very deserved of admiration, too.
From head-turning intricate up-dos, to impeccably executed make-up, the beauty looks at this year's Oscars oozed elegant glamour. Below, take in 10 of the best to remember.
Margot Robbie
In harmony with Margot Robbie’s deep espresso dress, make-up artist Pati Dubroff "applied Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in Intemporelle to complement her beautiful, nude-coloured nails". Her hairstyle, by Bryce Scarlett, was equally understated, featuring the whisper of a wave letting her "spun with gold" hair hue by celebrity colourist Jacob Schwartz using Schwarzkopf sparkle.
Zendaya
Celebrity hairstylist Tai Simon created Zendaya's "classic glamour waves" using Joico products. "With her gown being absolutely sublime it was best to keep her hair demure yet whimsically free flowing," she said. Her luminous make-up mirrored tones from her Giorgio Armani Privé rose silk gown.
Lupita Nyong'o
Make-up artist Nick Barose was inspired to pay homage to the same make-up look Lupita Nyong'o wore when she won her Oscar exactly a decade ago. "I took the basis of this look and then added a more defined brow, eye, and lip, but all in the same warm, orange colour palette. I wanted this look to be just a bit more dialled up, dramatic, and bold." To achieve it, key products included Chanel's Ombre Première Laque Longwear Liquid Eyeshadow in Desert Wind used on the eyes and Chanel's 31 Le Rouge Satin Lipstick in Rouge Tailleur gently tapped onto the lips.
Jennifer Lawrence
Using all Dior, make-up artist Hung Vanngo gave Jennifer Lawrence a bronzed beauty look with soft pink lips and subtle smoky eyes. Her hair, by Rebekah Forecast featured loose Hollywood waves with a deep side parting.
Florence Pugh
Make-up artist Alex Babsky and hairstylist by Adir Abergel were behind Florence Pugh's cool glamour, her make-up featuring fresh pops of pink and her flicked-out bob voluminous with texture.
Emma Stone
Best Actress winner Emma Stone looked perfectly polished for the occasion, her hair styled in "effortless, Oscar-winning waves" by hairstylist Mara Roszak and her make-up centred on kitten flicks of liner, winged lashes and full pink lips.
Anya Taylor-Joy
Anya Taylor-Joy was a vision with veiled hair, perfectly centre parted and styled shiny-straight. Her cool-toned eye make-up reflected the sequins in her ball gown courtesy of Dior Haute Couture.
America Ferrera
America Ferrera's baby bob was styled in undone waves and side parted for a very modern nod to red carpet glamour. Her make-up was correspondingly understated, featuring a fresh complexion and russet pink lips which matched her Atelier Versace dress coated in sequins.
Emily Blunt
Emily Blunt opted for full-voltage glamour, calling on make-up artist Jenn Streicher using Charlotte Tilbury to create "smoky eyes and glowing skin with a hint of pink on her lips" – the latter being the Hollywood Beauty Icon Lipstick in Candy Chic. Blunt's hair, by Laini Reeves, was styled in a voluminous high bun bound a fishbone braid.
Hailee Steinfeld
Hailee Steinfeld also opted for a bun, but in a very different guise – her's styled low with a sleek side parting seen from the front. Her warm toned make-up was impossibly chic, featuring barely there flicks of liner and washes of apricot pigment on the eyes, cheeks and lips.
