Original ‘Ghostbusters’ to Return to Theaters

As if the quadruple threat of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, plus a side dish of Chris Hemsworth, wasn’t enough to get you excited for the new “Ghostbusters,” Sony Pictures is reviving the original film to get fans revved up for the reboot.

Fathom Events, which is shared by AMC, Regal and Cinemark Theaters, will be re-releasing the film in over 750 theaters across the nation on June 8 for the film’s 34th anniversary, with an encore date set for June 12.

Beginning June 8, BBQ Films will also be hosting a three-night extravaganza in Brooklyn, where they’ll be turning a giant warehouse into the “Ghostbusters” headquarters. Fans will be able to wear proton packs, slurp on an ecto-beverage, watch the original film and maybe fight off a ghost or two. First released in 1984, the comedy starred Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson.

Tickets are available at Fathom Events and BBQ Films.

The “Ghostbusters” reboot will hit theaters on July 16.
