‘One Piece’, ‘Gintama’ and more coming to Universal Studios Japan this summer

Fans of “One Piece”, “Dragon Ball” and “Gintama”, if you like theme parks and need another reason to visit Osaka, Japan, then this might be it.

Universal Studios Japan is once again bringing back their “Universal Jump Summer”, a limited-period collaboration with manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump, after the good reviews from last year’s launch.

“JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure”, which marks its 30th anniversary this year, will feature in a 4-D attraction called “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: The Real 4-D World of DIO”.

The “Gintama Live Talk”, on the other hand, will be a show in which guests can participate. Both attractions have an experience time of about 20 minutes each.

The new additions are on top of the annual (and immensely popular) “One Piece Premiere Show”, which will focus on the series’ Summit War Saga this year.

Featured as part of last year’s Universal Jump Summer, the show mobilises at least 1,000,000 people in terms of manpower, and welcomes its 10th anniversary at Universal Studios Japan this year.

General ticket sales will start on 11 May, while express passes will go on sale 18 May.

Furthermore, Sanji’s Pirate Restaurant will also see an upgrade and expansion.

Other attractions for the 10th anniversary celebration also include a “Straw Hat Restaurant” and “One Piece Water Battle”, where guests can get their hands on a water shooter and join in the fun.

“One Piece” merchandise will also be available for purchase.

“Dragon Ball” also returns with “Dragon Ball Z: The Real 4-D”.

Using 3DCG (3D Computer Graphics) footage, guests can immerse themselves in the battlefield and join the battle with main protagonist Goku at their side.

Universal Jump Summer will take place from 30 June to 1 October. Sanji’s Pirate Restaurant will open earlier from 2 June, while the One Piece Water Battle will end on 3 September.
