She’s just come back from maternity leave after welcoming Prince Louis into the world in April, and the Duchess of Cambridge is already dishing out some epic parenting advice.

The 36-year-old, who is also a proud mum to five-year-old Prince George and three-year-old Princess Charlotte, told one royal fan this week that she always makes sure her children know just how much they’re loved.

“Hugs are very important. That’s what I tell my children,” Kate said, according to 9Honey.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were visiting Coach Core Essex to meet new apprentices, hear from graduates, and learn how the scheme in Essex is engaging a diverse local community with sport.

Both Kate and Prince William have been very vocal in the past about how they bring up their children in a loving and nurturing environment.

Speaking last year in an interview with mental health outlet CALMzine, Prince William said they both encourage all their children to be open about their feelings.

“Catherine and I are clear that we want both George and Charlotte to grow up feeling able to talk about their emotions and feelings,” he said.

Kate wrote a piece for The Huffington Post in the UK, where she talked about motherhood.

“We hope to encourage George and Charlotte to speak about their feelings, and to give them the tools and sensitivity to be supportive peers to their friends as they get older,” she wrote.

“We know there is no shame in a young child struggling with their emotions or suffering from a mental illness.”

The Duchess also spoke about her and William’s core parenting beliefs at Mitchell Brook Primary School last year.

“My parents taught me about the importance of qualities like kindness, respect, and honesty, and I realise how central values like these have been to me throughout my life,” she said.

“That is why William and I want to teach our little children, George and Charlotte just how important these things are as they grow up.

“In my view it is just as important as excelling at maths or sport.”
