When it comes to kitchen cabinets, there are so many color options to explore-white will never go out of style and black is a timeless choice-but if you're looking for something different from the usual neutrals (that you won't grow tired of) this shade is for you.

Dark teal kitchen cabinets are becoming the new go-to for designers and homeowners. The deep and rich blue-green hue looks gorgeous when paired with a variety of hardware choices, color palettes, and kitchen aesthetics from modern to country-no one wonder it's a favorite.

Pair it with a subway-tile backsplash, a farmhouse sink, reclaimed wood, appliances in stainless steel or black, and colorful accessorizes-you really can't go wrong when working with this sophisticated shade. And if you love the look, but feel hesitant about coating all of your cabinets in teal, you could opt to use the color on just your lower cabinets to create a two-toned statement.

"This is a fantastic color for a kitchen," interior designer Sara Story said. "The elegant and timeless color conjures images of nature, the depth of the sea and the vast sky. The color's tonality works well with Paonazzo marble and burnished brass hardware. It also compliments colors such as green, lilac, and gray. It is dramatic while being peaceful, which is the perfect combination." Her favorite is a more muted version: Farrow & Ball Stiffkey Blue No. 281.

It's also the easiest way to make a kitchen feel warm and welcoming, according to Emily Henderson, who used the "cozy" hue to decorate the kitchen in this New York bungalow. Even Joanna Gaines loves the color for cabinets. The designer installed teal cabinets in this home featured on HGTV's Fixer Upper to match the "fun" personality of the homeowners.

You can also make your teal cabinetry look perfectly distressed with this idea from Junk Gypsies star Jolie Sikes-Smith. The thrifting expert used an interior oil stain in a similar color on her kitchen cabinets, then used a rag and wood stain to give them a weathered look. This just may be the most versatile color we've seen yet!
