It's Official, the adidas Samba Is the Shoe of the Year
The time has come for Lyst to unveil its highly-anticipated "Year in Fashion" report for 2023, kicking things off with the hottest shoe of the year. According to the insights platform, 2023's biggest shoe is the adidas Samba, a hardly surprising result given countless collaborations with Wales Bonner, Sporty & Rich, Pharrell Williams and more.
2023's report states that the Samba was searched every 1.7 minutes on Lyst, with searches increasing by 43% over the past four months. Adding to the appeal, the shoe has been worn by it-girls like Bella Hadid, Kaia Gerber and Hailey Bieber, alongside cult-loved celebs like A$AP Rocky and Harry Styles.
Due to its growing list of collaborations, the shoe has generated over 836 million views on TikTok, with searches hitting a particular peak in November, increasing by 13,227% when news of the Wales Bonner ponyskin Samba broke. Alongside this, the rise is likely due in part to the growing blokecore trend, which sees athletic staples transition into fashion-forward silhouettes.
Along with the Samba, Lyst's 2023 report shares a look at the brand of the year, which has gone to Miu Miu, alongside the logo of the year, taken by Loewe's anagram. Elsewhere, the report includes the shoe of the year, aka Alaia's mesh ballet flats, plus the trend of the year, best front row dresser and more.
