Experiential dining restaurant Nox - Dine In The Dark is facing the risk of closing down after just eight years of operating in Singapore. Situated along Beach Road, Nox - Dine In The Dark offers an experiential dining experience by having their diners seated in the dark and having their meals while being assisted by visually impaired servers.

In a press release shared with the media today, the owner of Nox is implying that the closure is due to a dispute with its landlord: "It is with great sadness that we today announce an uncertain future of Nox - Dine In The Dark after eight years in operation as our landlord is disputing the validity of our renewal clause and has demanded we vacate the premises by the end of June 2021."

Owner and founder Jesper Gustafsson shared his sadness: “It’s really sad to leave with extremely short notice when you feel that you’ve just managed to get through the very tough period which everyone experienced last year. I started Nox - Dine In The Dark to be able to provide jobs for the blind, and at the same time to provide an amazing dining experience for people. It's really sad we have not been able to renew or extend the lease.”

With this closure, Gustafsson said that all of the staff would be left without a job, and this will impact their blind staff the most.

In the announcement, Nox also shared that they will remain open till the end of June.

Nox also calls the public and regular guests to show support by visiting the restaurant before the closure. "We would also want to hear from landlords who would like to have us as tenants. If you are a compassionate landlord and looking for a long-term tenant or want to help in any other way, please reach out to contact@noxdineinthedark.com," it said.
