Nova May Appear In Guardians Of The Galaxy Sequel

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ hero Nova could be heading to the big screen.

During a live Q&A with Yahoo! Movies UK, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ actor Peter Serafinowicz hinted that the classic comic book character may be heading to the big screen.

“I think in the comics, my character, when he crashes into the big alien ship, he gets imbued with superpowers,” he explained. “But I think they’re gonna have somebody else play him. And I think when I crashed into the ship, I just… died.”

But it’s not the Nova you might think…

But what does this mean?

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ saw Peter Serafinowicz suiting up as Denarian Garthan Saal - a high ranking officer of the Nova Corp who seemingly sacrificed his life during the siege on Nova Prime.

The comic books saw Garthan Saal as the sole survivor of the destruction of Xandar… and as a result, he contained the entire power of the Nova Corps within himself.

That’s right - he became Supernova.

And the story doesn’t end there.

Supernova’s desire for revenge saw him tracking down Nebula as a recent member of The Avengers… and although this wasn’t actually the case, he took on the combined forces of The Avengers, Fantastic Four and former herald of Galactus, Firelord.

Of course, he was eventually defeated… but Garthan Saal has since appeared as Nova Omega - the Nova hero assigned to Earth.

It’s entirely possible that Peter Serafinowicz is referring to Nova or Supernova. After all, there’s been plenty of rumours that Nova would appear in future instalments of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.

Will Nova star in an upcoming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ sequel or will he find a place in ‘Infinity War’ due to his link to The Avengers?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see. Either way, Serafinowicz won’t be back.

“I think James Gunn said that the first 20 minutes of the new movie is like a big funeral and memorial service for my character,” he laughed. “So I’m looking forward to that, you know. It’s better than nothing.”

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ heads to cinemas on 28 April 2017.
