Nourul Depp annoyed by netizens slamming her for Christmas video

27 Dec – Nourul Depp recently expressed her annoyance over the backlash she received following the recent Christmas celebration she had with her in-laws.

The actress, who was criticised for a video showing her in-laws opening Christmas presents as well as her kids dancing happily with a backdrop of a Christmas tree, stated that she was exasperated that the media took the Instagram Story post she made to spark controversy, and that netizens questioned her faith without understanding anything.

"I am annoyed with such mentality," she said. "Some questioned me for not wearing hijab. The reason why is because I still want to perform. If I want to wear a hijab, I would do it seriously, no more singing, no Instagram or Facebook... Meanwhile, those who do, were busy typing these words and saying bad things about others."

In a previous Instagram post, the singer stated that she was only trying to make her in-laws happy by exchanging presents on Christmas Day, adding that even her in-laws are not practising Christians.

"If I went to church to pray, then yes, you can judge me. I never put religion far from my mind and heart. Only God knows me," she added.

Nourul tied the knot with husband Eric Daniel Depp in 2012. The two are parents to two sons, Zachary and Raphael, and daughter Isabella. The family is now living in Bali, Indonesia.
