Noraniza Idris admits to mental health struggle over concert cancellation

23 Nov - Noraniza Idris recently admitted that she struggled from depression for months following the cancellation of her solo concert, Malai Solo last year.

The singer, who spoke to the media recently, stated that she didn't know how to deal with the situation after she was scammed by the sponsor, especially when even her concert director went MIA following the controversy.

"I had to face everything on my own. I became depressed and it made me not want to meet people or do any public programmes. I even went mad when my husband spoke about the concert," she said.

Noraniza, known as Kak Ani by her fans, also stated that she took seven months to heal from her dire mental state.

"I even got expert's advice and was given a reference letter for further examination, though I didn't go in the end. My husband asked Datuk Awie to come advise me to just focus on my career and not deal with netizens," she added.

Asked if she would still hold her solo concert in the future, Noraniza stated that she doesn't feel like doing it anymore. However, she will be careful in the future if there is any organiser interested in managing her show.

The Malai Solo concert was scheduled to be held from 21 to 23 October last year in Istana Budaya, but was cancelled following controversies surrounding a developer that was found to be involved in a fishy scheme.
