‘Nobody Knows Anything (Except William Goldman)’: First Look At Docu About Groundbreaking Writer

Here’s a first look at a documentary on “arguably the greatest American screenwriter,” as Rob Reiner calls William Goldman. He’s the guy Aaron Sorkin says “is responsible for inventing the modern screenplay as we know it.” Also a novelist and nonfiction writer, he’s the pen behind such Hollywood classics as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and All the President’s Men — scoring Oscars for both — along with such disparate films as Misery, Heat, The Stepford Wives, Maverick, A Bridge Too Far and the eternally quotable The Princess Bride. Inconceivable.

Nobody Knows Anything (Except William Goldman) features in-depth interviews and graphic novel-style animated sequences depicting seminal moments in his groundbreaking career, along wth rare footage of Goldman revisiting his personal archives. It tells the story of an “unexceptional” kid from Highland Park who defied expectations and broke all the rules. The comes from Caroline Case, a veteran screenwriter who is making her feature documentary debut. She also produces along with Suzanne Weinert. Gary Fleder is the exec producer.
