‘Nobody’ Filmmaker Ilya Naishuller to Direct Idris Elba and John Cena in Amazon’s ‘Heads of State’

“Nobody” director Ilya Naishuller has been tapped to direct Idris Elba and John Cena in “Heads of State” for Amazon Studios.

The studio won the pitch package consisting of the “Suicide Squad” co-stars and an original draft by Harrison Query in 2020. Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec, the writing partners behind “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and more are handling rewrites.

Though plot details are being kept under wraps, the film has been described as “‘Air Force One’ meets ‘Midnight Run.'”

Naishuller has also directed several music videos, including those of his indie rock band Biting Elbows.

He is repped by CAA, Inga Smith at IV Management, and Jim Gilio at Sloane Offer.
