Nike and Undefeated’s Collaboration on a Classic Running Shoe Will Only Have 1,000 Pairs

It’s still early days on the revival of the Nike Zoom Spiridon, a running shoe that originally released in 1997 and had been on ice from 2018 until late last year. A few OG colorways have already made their return, and Fragment Design was chosen as the shoe’s first collaborator of this new era. Soon Undefeated will throw its name in the mix as well with an extremely limited release.

The Undefeated x Nike Zoom Spiridon “Thunder Blue” will release this weekend with only 1,000 pairs made. The shoe’s namesake shade of blue forms the majority of the upper in suede and mesh, with a few accents to be found in green. Silver 3M reflective elements also appear throughout, including the Swoosh and piping for both the eyelets and tongue.

Imagery for the sneaker has been somewhat limited, but Undefeated’s logo has been spotted on the tongue and outsole. A custom box leans into the Spiridon’s origins in running by creating a collage of racing bibs with the numbers 2002 and 1972, the years Undefeated and Nike were founded, respectively.

Undefeated has drawn praise for its marketing of the Spiridon, which began with a somewhat bewitching video of a man gliding across gravel and dragging the sneakers through the rocks. The follow up video then showed a skydiver hopping out of a helicopter while rocking the kicks.

The Undefeated x Nike Zoom Spiridon will release Saturday, February 22, exclusively at Undefeated’s La Brea store in Los Angeles, as well as its New York City, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Phoenix outposts. There will be no online release, and pricing is set at $160.
