Nike’s Ultra-Rare Dunk Low CO.JP ‘Reverse Curry’ Sneaker Returns 25 Years Later

Nike is bringing back a rare Dunk so old it predates even the first SB version of the sneaker.

This month will see the rerelease of the Dunk Low “Dark Curry,” which originally released in 1999 as the Dunk Low CO.JP “Reverse Curry.” Like other releases from the CO.JP line, short for “Concepts Japan,” the “Reverse Curry” was exclusive to select shops in the country and served as a precursor to not only Nike SB and its heritage of Dunk collaborations, but to the entire phenomenon of limited-edition colorways in sneakers.

Although the name may be different now, the “Reverse Curry” is returning for the first time with a makeup true to the original. The shoe’s namesake color forms its leather underlays, as well as the tongue, laces, outsole, and branding for the mustache and insole. White is the used for the leather overlays, including the Swoosh, as well as the midsole, sock liner, and insole.

As simple as the color scheme may be, those steeped in the history of Dunks will be jumping at the opportunity to purchase the Dunk Low “Reverse Curry” through its first global release. It’s one of the very shoes’ that sneakerheads would fly all the way to Japan to purchase or pay a premium for on eBay while the culture of collecting was still in its nascency.

The Nike Dunk Low “Dark Curry,” aka the CO.JP “Reverse Curry,” will release Jan. 12 through the SNKRS app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $135.
