Nike’s Pegasus Premium Already Sold Out — but a New Colorway for the Running Shoe Is Coming Soon
Nike’s Pegasus Premium is one of its biggest developments in running in this decade, which makes it no surprise that the shoe sold out quickly in most sizes for its debut Thursday. If you missed out, though, you won’t have to wait terribly long for the model to return in a new colorway.
The Nike Pegasus Premium “Black/Bright Crimson” will release in early March as the second edition of the hyped running shoe. Black consumes the majority of the shoe, from its upper to the ZoomX and ReactX foams on the midsole. Breaking up the darkness is a red Zoom Air unit running full-length through the midsole, as was as silver Swooshes with a healthy degree of shine.

A visible and curved full-length Zoom Air unit is a first for Nike, and it helps propel the foot forward better than it would if the bubble were flat. The upper layer of ZoomX foam provides Nike’s most premium cushioning experience, and the lower layer of ReactX foam serves as a more durable reinforcement. Together, these developments bring more energy return than ever for a Pegasus sneaker in series’ history of more than 40 years.
“Air is Nike’s separator in the footwear industry — no one can create cushioning innovations like we can,” Kathy Gomez, Nike vice president of NXT Footwear,” said in a release upon the shoe’s announcement last year. “For the Peg Premium, we wanted runners to get the most energy return possible out of the sculpted Air Zoom unit. Not only does it double as a spring-like mechanism, the Air unit is also designed to engage with the entirety of your foot, no matter your gait pattern or stride length.”
In its short life, and even leading up to it, the Pegasus Premium has also drawn compliments for being Nike’s best-looking running shoe in some time — so much so that it carries serious appeal for daily wear.
The Nike Pegasus Premium in “Black/Bright Crimson” will release March 5 through Nike’s website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $210.
