Nike’s annual Doernbecher Freestyle collection featuring designs from patients of the children’s hospital of the same name has now reached its 20th year. A release date hasn’t yet been announced for the latest assortment, but more than 50 rare sneakers released over the past few decades are now up for auction.
The Nike Doernbecher Freestyle auction features sneakers dating back to the first year of the partnership. Some of the listings have already been sold, but among those still accepting bids are Ethan Ellis’ Air Jordan 14 from 2019, Zoe Taaffe’s Dunk Low from 2022, Joey Bates’ SB Dunk Low from 2018, Michael “Spitfire” Wilson’s Air Jordan 5 Low from 2022, Riddi Mahajan’s Air Jordan 1 Low from 2023, Coley Miller’s Air Foamposite One from 2023 and Donovan Dinneen’s Air Jordan 15 from 2018.
Sneakers that have already sold via “Buy It Now” options include Finnigan Moodey’s SB Dunk High from 2012 and 2019 ($1,000), Kenny Clegg’s Buzz Lightyear-themed Air Zoom Huarache 2K5 from 2007 ($520), Jaren Heacock’s Zoom Vomero 5 from 2023 ($720), Ayman Wamala’s Blazer Mid ’77 from 2022 ($400) and Emerson Harrell’s Air Max 90 from 2023 ($560).
All proceeds from the auction will go to the OHSU Doernecher Children’s Hospital. Since the Doernecher program started in 2004, more than $37 million has been raised for the Oregon hospital.
The newest Doernbecher assortment, which has been officially unveiled but without firm launch details, will release before the end of the year and feature the Air Jordan 6, Sabrina 2, Zoom Pegass 41, Air Max Dn, Air Max SNDR and Air Max 180.
