From Fuschia Dunlop's Invitation to a Banquet to Jamie Oliver's 5 Ingredients Mediterranean and the late restauranteur Russell Norman's Brutto: A (Simple) Florentine Cookbook, recipe books have been the plat du jour for 2023, with a whole host of exciting new titles arriving on shelves this year.

But with so many to choose from, picking just one for the foodie in your life might be somewhat of a challenge this Christmas.

Thankfully Nigella Lawson has revealed her favourite cookbook of the year, just in time to make your last minute gift-shopping decisions a little easier.

Taking to Instagram, Nigella told her followers that Bee Wilson's Secret of Cooking has been her favourite cook book of the year.

"I thought it might be helpful to give you a link to #CookbookCorner in case you haven’t bought all your Christmas presents yet!" she penned. "There are so many great titles, but I have to nominate @KitchenBee’s Secret of Cooking as my Cookbook of the Year."

Nigella has previously praised the book as "a genuinely game-changing cookbook. . . there's not a kitchen that should be without a copy."

Food Writer Diana Henry also said the book provided "notes from a lifetime of reading, thinking, cooking and eating."

Packed with 140 doable, delicious and unfussy recipes, as well as ideas for cooking ahead or cooking on your own, in The Secret of Cooking Bee gives you a helping hand to get a meal on the table when you’re tired and stretched for time.

The food writer and cook also gives tips on seasoning properly and what equipment really works in the kitchen.
