Nicola Coughlan
has spoken about the scene she felt the most pressure to get right while filming Bridgerton's third season.

The star is currently taking centre stage in season three of the popular Netflix period drama as her character Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton, portrayed by Luke Newton, become this year's romantic leads.

She revealed that the carriage scene, in which the two characters become intimate for the first time, was the one she really wanted to get right

In an interview with Netflix, she said: “The fans are horny little devils and they used to send us pictures of carriages constantly and carriages rocking.

“So, this has to be both beautiful, touching, romantic and sexy, which is a lot of things. In her mind after the kiss, it’s just she’s messed it up completely and she’s like, ‘He will never fancy me. He doesn’t fancy me. It’s embarrassing. I’m gonna move on,’” Nicola added.

“There’s no part of her when he gets in that carriage that thinks anything like this is gonna happen.”

Earlier this year, Nicola announced that she will be presenting a new podcast on BBC Sounds titled History's Youngest Heroes. The star will narrate the podcast which serves as a spin off to last year's History's Secret Heroes podcast.

"With jaw dropping tales of heroism, deception, and acts of bravery and resistance, Nicola will share some of the most awe-inspiring stories of the youngest heroes in history. From Nelson Mandela to Audrey Hepburn, listeners will be gripped by Nicola's superb storytelling for this hotly anticipated new podcast," reads the official description.

Bridgerton seasons one and two are streaming now on Netflix, along with Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. Season three premiered on 16 May with the second part due to be released on 13 June .
