Nicholas Saputra to star in "Asian Three Fold Mirror 2018"

All three parts of the Japan-Indonesia-China omnibus will star the Indonesian actor

Indonesian actor Nicholas Saputra will be the lead for all three episodes of the "Asian Three Fold Mirror 2018" omnibus.

20 Mar – Nicholas Saputra has been tapped to play the lead in all three parts of the upcoming omnibus, "Asian Three-Fold Mirror 2018".

"I am honoured to be part of "Asian Three-Fold Mirror 2018". It was such an exciting experience to be able to work not only with various directors, but also getting to know other fellow cast members, film crews and different productions across Asia," the Indonesian actor commented in a press statement.

It comes as no surprise that the 34-year-old actor has been chosen as the lead, as he's had a steady acting career ever since debuting on the big screen in "Ada Apa Dengan Cinta" in 2009, even returning for the hit movie's sequel in 2016.

The good news was announced by the Japan Foundation Asia Centre and the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), marking this as the second "Asian Three-Fold Mirror" co-production project between the two.

The omnibus is a follow-up to 2016's "Asian Three-Fold Mirror: Reflection", to be helmed by directors that are all new to this project.

The three accomplished Asian filmmakers that will be sitting in the directors' chairs this time around hail from Japan, Daishi Matsunaga ("Pieta in the Toilet"); Indonesia, Edwin ("Postcards from the Zoo"); and China, Degena Yun ("A Simple Goodbye").

There is no news on the other cast members yet but they are set to be announced before the world premiere, which is scheduled to take place at the 31st edition of TIFF that will be held from 25 October to 3 November 2018.

The "Asian Three-Fold Mirror" project is part of the effort made by the Japan Foundation Asia Centre and TIFF to carry out exchange programs and cooperative projects between Japan and partners in Asian countries and regions. It will be carried out until 2020, when the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics are set to be held.

This project brings together three talented directors from Japan and other Asian countries to co-create a series of omnibus films that share a common theme.
