Oh, Web of Trust (WOT)… You have the power to blacklist sites based on whatever reasons you’d like.

Qihoo 360’s just today launched the So.com URL for its search engine. But the party was spoiled by WOT’s blacklisting (and also some possible DNS issues). No one is sure about the reasons why so.com, a completely new domain got blacklisted. But Qihoo 360’s CEO Zhou Hongyi isn’t impressed; he said on his Weibo this evening:

Is this high level trick or a low level despicable act?

He also reposted So.com’s official weibo account’s take:

How did we got shot even when we laid low? Who gave this review?

Seriously, that’s very suspicious, and very likely someone must have been playing dirty tricks to give So.com a tough time. Now, speaking about WOT, we also have had the same shitty experience. Somehow Techinasia.com also unfortunately has very lousy remarks/points from WOT after we made a domain switch from penn-olson.com.

Thankfully, our awesome readers have been very supportive. All of our comments at WOT are positive green (seriously, thanks guys!) which is helping us a little. There’s no way to communicate with the folks at WOT except praying that readers will help us fight this war.

All in all, this is very frustrating for Zhou and for ourselves. If a new site can be branded as “low reputation” instantly, then WOT, you ought to reflect on yourself too. Hmmph!
