Tributes of the 75th Hunger Games

After winning the 74th Hunger Games with a risky scheme, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are now the Victors that have become the beacon of hope against the oppression of the Capitol.

With the coming of the 75th Hunger Games, the rules will now be different with the introduction of the Quarter Quell; a Hunger Games participated by Victors from previous Hunger Games, which means that the participants will be more vicious and cunning than the opponents Katniss and Peeta had faced.

In preparation for the spark of "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" out in Malaysian cinemas on 21 November, we thought that it would be helpful to introduce the most significant Tributes that would be appearing in this second installment of "The Hunger Games" series, for those who haven't read the second novel in Suzanne Collins' trilogy.

Katniss Everdeen & Peeta Mellark

As the unprecedented double Victors of the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) are once again reaped as the Tributes of District 12 for the 75th Hunger Games.

Managing to cheat death once already in the previous games, this time the beloved 'star-crossed lovers' may not be so lucky with a new Gamemaster commandeering the Arena of the Quarter Quell and gaining the unwanted attention of President Snow, who can see the potential threat that they represent.

With the stakes now much higher than it has ever been for the downtrodden citizens of Panem, the pair would have to be more prepared to find a way to survive this deadlier game, if they can still maintain the fake relationship between them.

Finnick Odair and Mags

Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin) is a Victor from the 65th Hunger Games when he was 14 years old. He managed to survive that game under the tutelage of Mags (Lynn Cohen), an old Victor from one of the first Hunger Games who served as his Mentor. Finnick was reaped to be in this Quarter Quell along with another female Tribute, but Mags had volunteered herself as a replacement to be the Tributes of District 4.

Finnick is known for surviving the Hunger Games with the symbolic weapon of his district; the trident and net, which he used to set snares for his opponents before slaying them with the trident. His physical strength is matched by the wisdom of Mags, who would be bringing much of her experience into the Arena.

At the age of 80, Mags will be the oldest Tribute to participate in the 75th Hunger Games.

Johanna Mason

Johanna Mason (Jena Malone) is the female Tribute from District 7, who was the Victor of the more recent 71st Hunger Games. Though a Victor, she did not enjoy the lavish lifestyle that was usually heaped upon such Victors when she lost her family after surviving the games.

Although very skillful with the weapon of her district; the axe, Johanna Mason was more known for surviving her Hunger Games with deception and surprise by pretending to be an easy prey to the other Tributes.

Beetee & Wiress

Wiress and Beetee, sometimes better known as Nuts and Volts (respectively) are the Tributes from District 3. Due to the unstable mental state of Wiress (Amanda Plummer), she has a hard time communicating with others without Beetee (Jeffrey Wright) to finish her sentences.

As a Tribute from District 3, Beetee is renowned for his electrical skills which helped him to become the Victor of his Hunger Games when he managed to devise a trap that electrocuted the remaining Tributes.

The pair may seem to be physically the weakest among the other Tributes of the 75th Hunger Games, but don't underestimate their combined strength of intellect and observation that might put a different end to the Games.

Enobaria & Brutus

Enobaria (Meta Golding) and Brutus (Bruno Gunn) are the career Tributes of District 2, as they had both volunteered as Tributes during their respective Hunger Games. As his name suggests, Brutus is a physically strong Tribute, who used it to his advantage to win his Hunger Games.

While Brutus has a strong arm with the spear, Enobaria's primary weapon is her teeth which she used to rip out the throat of another Tribute during her Hunger Games. In remembrance of that cannibalistic kill, Enobaria had her teeth sharpened and inlaid with gold to signify her victory at the 62nd Hunger Games.

Cashmere & Gloss

The brother-and-sister pair Tributes of District 1, Gloss (Alan Ritchson) and Cashmere (Stephanie Leigh Schlund) are not just Victors of a single Hunger Game each, but have won several Hunger Games in consecutive years, giving them an almost celebrity-like status by the citizens of the Capitol among the other Victors from the district.

Gloss and Cashmere may have the same arrogance and confidence displayed by their successors Marvel and Glimmer who were killed in the previous Hunger Games by Katniss, but they certainly won't let that blind them in knowing how the play the game they know all too well, even with their deadly knife skills aside.
