Nicolas Cage to go after Bin Laden in 'Army of One'

The actor has joined the latest comedy from "Borat" director Larry Charles, The Hollywood Reporter indicates. "Army of One" is inspired by an article published in GQ on one American's attempts to go on a manhunt for the Al-Qaeda leader in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

After a series of critical and commercial missteps, Nicolas Cage has decided to make his next film a satirical comedy, likely of the black humor variety. Inspired by a true story, "Army of One" centers on Gary Faulkner (Cage), a Colorado construction worker who made multiple attempts to track down Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Recounted by journalist Chris Heath in an article in GQ, the quest of this American patriot haunted by the memory of 9/11 will be adapted for film by Larry Charles. The Weinstein Company will produce the film.

A long-time "Seinfeld" staff writer, Charles has directed several films including "Borat" (2006), "Brüno" (2009) and "The Dictator" (2012), all starring Sacha Baron Cohen.

The production timeline for "Army of One" is not yet announced.
