Karen Mok says she is destined to meet Jacky Cheung

17 Sep – Hong Kong actress-singer Karen Mok recently launched her special exhibition, "The Age of Moknificence – Karen Mok 20th Anniversary Exhibition" and revealed the significance of one of the four Cantopop Heavenly Kings, Jacky Cheung, in her life.

As reported on China News website, while speaking to the media about the exhibition, Karen revealed that one of the most special items in the show would be an article from her secondary school newspaper featuring singers Jacky Cheung and Alan Tam.

The 43-year-old actress enthused, "A classmate of mine was an important person in Jacky's fan club, so I asked him for an interview. We even succeeded in taking a photo of Jacky with our school principal holding the paper."

Karen shared that her career turned for the better after she dyed her hair red for Jacky's music video, "Moon Gazing" in 1994, which caught the attention of director Wong Kar-wai. Wong Kar-wai offered her the chance to play a supporting role in his movie, "Fallen Angels", and led Karen to win Best Supporting Actress.

She also shared that Jacky was the one who presented the award to her when she won Best Female Singer at the 2003 Taiwan Golden Melody.

"To think that my destiny with Jacky started when I was in school!" said Karen.

The exhibition will take place from 15 to 21 September, featuring several interesting collections from 20 years of Karen's career, including her awards, recordings of her singing from age three, and even the false teeth from her role in Stephen Chow's film "God Of Cookery".
