Esplanade chief Benson Puah diagnosed with cancer

The chief executive officer of the National Arts Council and the Esplanade, Benson Puah, has been diagnosed with lymphoma, a type of cancer that attacks cells of the immune system.

In a joint statement on Monday, the National Arts Council and the Esplanade said Puah, who has been dubbed as Singapore arts scene’s most powerful individual, started a 16-week treatment for the condition on the same day.

Phua will continue with his duties at Esplanade and NAC as normally as his condition will allow him to, they said.

The organisations said they will continue to operate as per normal.
