Ang Lee to direct boxing movie

14 Aug – It was revealed that Oscar-winning director Ang Lee will follow up on the success of "Life Of Pi" with another 3D film concerning the boxing world.

According to The Guardian, the Taiwanese-born director will focus his new project on legendary boxers in the 1960s and 1970s, with Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali's "Thrilla In Manila" fight in 1975 as the main attraction.

While most of the details have yet to be released, it was reported that "Frost/Nixon" screenwriter and two-time Oscar nominee Peter Morgan is set to write the screenplay.

This will be a new territory for the ambitious director, who has directed movies from various genres, such as the martial arts movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", the superhero movie "Hulk", the period drama "Sense And Sensibility" to the revolutionary 3D film, "Life Of Pi", among the few.

Meanwhile, Universal Pictures has yet to make any comment regarding Ang's project.
