Newcomers admit Stephen Chow is a strict director
19 Feb – Although he seemed like an easygoing person, comedy actor Michael Jack (Zhang Quandan) wants you to know Stephen Chow is actually a very strict director while on the set of his movie.
As reported on Oriental Daily, the actor, who attended "The New King of Comedy" appreciation event recently alongside newcomer Vin E Jingwen, shared that while Stephen is a great director, working with him could be stressful.
"It's my first movie, and if I don't meet his demands after second or third take, of course he would yell at me. But during promotions, he becomes another person. He would [be generous with everyone]. It's great," he said.
Vin concurred, saying that Stephen is very strict and quiet when on set.
"He would frown at you and make you scared. But then after the shoot, he would joke around," she said.
The two actors also expressed hope that they will get to work with the comedy auteur again in the future.
