Nevertheless actress Han So-hee has purchased a luxury apartment worth 1.96 billion won (US$1.63 million) in the prime residential area of Achiwul Village in the city of Guri, Gyeonggi province.

Just a 30 minute drive from Seoul itself, Achiwul Village is popular with other South Korean celebrities for its prime location and tranquil surroundings.

The location of Achiwul village is on the rise as a "cultural village" as it has been attracting top figures and VIPs from the arts and entertainment industry. Many brand new luxury residences have been completed in the recent years, with celebrities and well-known figures moving into the neighbourhood.

Crash Landing On You actor Hyun-bin will be Han So-hee's neighbour, having made headlines last year for snapping up a luxury home in the very same village.

The actress purchased her luxury apartment in cash in December last year and will be moving in this month after settling miscellaneous payments this month before receiving the property's title deed.

Her purchase comes at a time where the real estate market in South Korea faces rising inflation and soaring prices. There has been public resentment towards celebrities that create an uptick in real estate prices through using their reputation and status.

Actor Ryu Jun-yeol landed in hot water recently for flipping a building using loans amounting to 90 per cent of its value.

However, netizens looked favourably on Han So-hee's purchase, as she comes from a rags-to-riches background, and also paid for the property in cash instead of using her reputation to secure enormous loans to buy and flip property like Ryu Jun-yeol.

Han recently starred in crime drama My Name.

She will be returning to the small-screen some time next year in her new action/thriller drama, Gyeongseong Creature, alongside actor Park Seo-joon. It is written by writer Kang Eun-kyung, who has also worked on Dr. Romantic. Chung Dong-yoon, who is known for Hot Stove League, will be directing the upcoming drama.

The TV series is expected to premiere in 2023.
