If you're the type of person to cry when a sad scene comes on in a movie or even just an advert with a puppy in it, then I suggest you bring a full box of tissues to watch Netflix's latest drama series From Scratch, because you're gonna need them.

Inspired by the memoir of the same name, From Scratch tells the story of American art student Amahle "Amy" Wheeler (Zoe Saldaña) who is studying in Florence, Italy when she meets Sicilian chef Lino (Eugenio Mastrandrea). The two quickly fall in love and the eight episode limited series tells their love story and all its ups and occasional downs.

There's family tension, moving away from home and illness to contend with. It's funny, romantic and full of delicious looking food. Why is smell-o-vision not a thing?

The series dropped just before the weekend (21st October) and already Netflix viewers are binge watching their way through it.

On Twitter it appears everyone is feeling the same way about the series. Many people are praising it, with one person calling it the "best series" they'd watched all year and another describing it as a "beautiful".

However, the main thing everyone is saying about From Scratch is how much of a tear-jerker it is. And I agree, I started crying in episode four.

One person wrote: "Watched From Scratch on Netflix. The triggers, the tears. What a difficult series to watch. My heart broke a million ways with each episode."

And another said: "From Scratch on Netflix is so good. Finished the entire show in one sitting and cried multiple times. You’ll feel every emotion. Love, happiness, sadness, pain, even anger. Loved it."

The main source of everyone's tears? Lino is diagnosed with cancer in episode four just as his new restaurant is about to take off, and the subsequent episodes see Amy and Lino's families come together to support the couple.

That being said, the series isn't all doom and gloom. In fact it's full of incredible scenery, heartwarming family moments and the occasional steamy scene.

Just be prepared, you will cry throughout it. Now, someone pass me the tissues.
