Nestlé Introduces Vital Pursuit Brand

Nestlé is leaning into the weight management market.

Known for brands like Stouffer's, Häagen-Dazs and DiGiorno, the global company is now introducing a new food line, Vital Pursuit, which is “intended to be a companion for GLP-1 weight loss medication users,” according to a press release.

Nestlé’s new brand will cater to people using weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy or anyone looking to manage their weight. According to a release, the products will include frozen meals like bowls with whole grains, protein pasta, pizza and sandwich melts. They will be “high in protein, a good source of fiber [and] contain essential nutrients" like vitamin A, potassium, calcium or iron, per the release.

Not only will they be nutrient-rich, but the company says they will also be affordable, adhering to a suggested retail price of $4.99 and under. Plus, there will be a variety of options that are “portion-aligned,” including gluten-free options and air-fryer-ready meals.

Nestlé said that Vital Pursuit will hit select retailers nationwide in fall 2024 but stores that will carry it have not yet been announced.

Several Hollywood A-listers have revealed they are on weight loss drugs. In December 2023, Oprah Winfrey told PEOPLE that she uses “it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing," she said, opting not to name the specific drug she takes.

"The fact that there's a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for. I’m absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself,” she said.

In August 2023, Tracy Morgan opened up about his usage of Ozempic – and how it affects his appetite.

"I went and got a prescription, and I got Ozempic. And I ain't letting it go ... It cuts my appetite in half. Now I only eat half a bag of Doritos,” he quipped on Today with Hoda & Jenna.
